New York should be a city where everyone can live together freely and equally-- its mandate is to be a place that anyone can call home and thrive. Now more than ever, we must be a city that affirms, welcomes, and provides opportunities for people from all backgrounds and all statuses.

At the core of the work to build a just and fair city, we must take down barriers holding people back wherever they are.

As your next City Council Member, I will fight for:

  • Protecting immigrants by keeping ICE out of our city and fighting to abolish it nationwide. New York City has the highest arrest rates in the state-- members of our communities are being targeted and taken away on the streets, at courthouses, and in hospitals and their own homes.

  • Guaranteeing public defense in immigration, criminal, tenant, and family court proceedings as a right for all and fully funding counsel so that no one has to face court without representation.

  • Ensuring that city social services are accessible to all regardless of immigration status or income.

  • Making New York City a better city for families by fully funding Pre-K and 3-K, childcare, and maternity and paternity leave.

  • Ending endemic violence against trans women, especially those of color, by increasing education about transgender people and strengthening laws involving assaults on people because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

  • Abolishing religious exemptions to anti-discrimination laws based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

  • Funding the New York City Human Rights Commission so that it can expand its educational work, outreach, ability to receive and investigate reports of discrimination, and capacity to enforce rulings in a timely manner.

  • Decriminalizing and legalizing sex work.
